I didn't start my career in finance. I started it in service. Before I ever opened a balance sheet, I served in the United States Coast Guard, where I learned that the work you do matters most when someone else is counting on you. Those values didn't leave when I took off the uniform. They shaped everything that came after. I spent years building my financial career, eventually becoming an Accounting Manager at a CPA firm. But the moment that defined my path was stepping in as the CFO of a $35 million nonprofit on the verge of collapse. No roadmap. No safety net. Just a mission worth saving and a team that needed real leadership. We stabilized the finances, rebuilt trust with stakeholders, and helped the organization not just survive, but thrive again. That experience made one thing clear: Most businesses don't need a $200,000 CFO on payroll. They need a trusted financial partner who shows up with the same commitment.
